The Role of the Governing Body
The governing body is responsible for the strategic direction of the school and for acting as a “critical friend” to the Headteacher and staff team. Our role is to examine and question reports provided to us by the Headteacher and other staff members on a whole range of issues that affect the management of the school and staff as well as the progress and achievement of pupil groups. The full governing body meet once each term and have additional training sessions. However, much of the more detailed work that governors are involved in is done in committees, which each meet four times during the year. The governing body has three permanent sub-groups, where information about different aspects of school is regularly reviewed in more detail.
More details about the work of the Governing Body can be found in the Governors End of Year Letter 2015/16
