Trips & Residentials

Malin Bridge children will take part in many trips throughout their time with us. These trips support the learning that the children undertake in the classroom or celebrate milestones. Some of our favorite destinations include:

  • Rivelin Valley woodland walks
  • Yorkshire Natural History Museum
  • Weston Park Museum
  • Cannon Hall Farm
  • Matlock farm
  • Ninja Warrior
  • Wincobank Iron Age Hillfort
  • Air Haus

In order to allow us to offer these trips, we may on occasion ask for parental contributions. However, no child will be excluded from any trip due to non-contribution. For our charging policy please see the trust policies page.

What is a residential?

Residentials are a major part of the Malin Bridge Primary School experience and form an important part of the curriculum.

On a residential, an entire year group of children, their teachers and additional support staff will spend a few days and nights away from home at an activity centre, taking part in daily group activities and sleeping in dormitory rooms. Children gain a huge amount of confidence and independence from their residential, and we encourage all children to take part even if they are a little nervous at the prospect of staying away from home overnight.

There are three residentials spread over the seven years that pupils are here:

  • Hollowford (Castleton): 2 nights in Year 2.
  • Thornbridge: 2 nights in Year 4.
  • Kingswood (Peak Venture): 2 nights in Year 6.
